Academic Class (AC), still life painting and pencil drawing. During the first half of the semester, they learn to shade and value change with only pencils. They also learn techniques and tricks with different materials. The next half is about painting with acrylic paint. The students will use different kinds of paintbrushes and see what kind of stroke each brush makes. When the teacher thinks a student is ready, they can move on from acrylic to watercolor. There are a few ceramics classes between the other classes, and the students learn how to make cups and containers.
